Vampire Facial

The vampire rejuvenation procedure, also known as the Vampire Facial, is a cell regeneration treatment using your own platelets to infuse the skin with your own growth factors. The Vampire Facial is performed using PRP/PRF combined with microneedling to create micro-channels which allow the PRP/PRF to penetrate the dermis. The vampire facial reduces signs of aging and stimulates cell renewal. In addition to increasing luminosity and smoothness in the skin, the vampire facial will also result in the reduction of expression lines, wrinkles, and acne scars.

At FCP Derm all treatments are supervised and overseen by our Dr. Kristy Bailey.

Benefits of a Vampire Facial

This treatment is suitable for anyone looking to achieve a rejuvenation effect immediately without going through invasive procedures. Regardless of gender, the ideal candidates are people who, due to aging, need to generate more collagen and elastin and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This treatment also dramatically improves the appearance of deep textural acne scars.

Reduces wrinkles and lines: skin looks youthful and healthy post treatment, while significantly shrinking pore size.

Improves deep scars, including acne scars: collagen production helps the healing of scars, significantly improving texture.

Stimulates cell turnover: Skin cells are recycled, and new collagen, elastin, and healthy skin cells are synthesized.

The procedure is quick and pain free: a topical anesthetic is applied on the skin to minimize any discomfort.

What is a vampire facial?

The term vampire facial was coined because it is performed using platelet-rich plasma which is extracted from the patient’s own blood. Despite its name, this is a relatively non-invasive and pain free procedure. The procedure begins by extracting a small amount of blood from a vein in your arm (just like you would for blood work). The blood is then centrifuged to obtain the plasma portion of your blood which contains all your growth factors. Your concentrated growth factors are then applied to your skin and an advanced medical grade microneedling device is used to micro-needle them into your skin. The microneedling treatment stimulates collagen production while infusing the skin with growth factors. Commonly referred to as “microneedling on steroids,” the PRP/PRF vampire facial boosts your skin’s ability to make collagen. This is one of the most popular treatments among celebrities.

What to expect during a vampire facial treatment

A high concentration of PRP/PRF is obtained from the patient’s own blood, through our state-of-the-art centrifugation system. At FCP Derm prescription-strength numbing cream is applied to the treatment area for comfort. Your plasma containing concentrated growth factors is applied to the skin. The best FDA-approved microneedling device on the market is used at our clinic to allow the concentrated growth factors to penetrate the deep layers of the skin. This device is a pencil-sized instrument made up of sterile microneedles. Multiple skin micro-punctures induce a wound-healing response that produces new collagen and elastin. The treatment is then finished by covering the wounded skin with another layer of PRP/PRF to maximize absorption.

During your consultation, your skin will be analyzed by our team of skin experts. Patients are encouraged to drink lots of water before treatment as hydration is the key to maximizing the amount of PRP/PRF extracted. Avoid taking any blood thinning medication before the procedure to avoid bruising.

A topical anesthetic will be applied over the skin. Your blood will then be drawn and spun in our cutting-edge centrifuge technology. The PRP/PRF is extracted and then used as a slip agent during your microneedling treatment. To finish the treatment, the PRP/PRF is applied over the skin as a mask to maximize absorption. This process generally takes about 1 hour to complete.

The first few days after treatment, there may be a slight swelling on the area treated. You may experience slight peeling which is a sign of skin cell turnover. Any bruising or swelling will settle after a few days, and radiant skin will start to appear. It is recommended to use sunscreen (SPF 30 or above) and avoid sun exposure as well as strenuous physical activities for the first 24 hours.
